Matinee Rose draws inspiration from 1989 Roxas Boulevard, a time when the “Queen of Avenues” stood at the crossroads of change. As the decade came to a close, the boulevard remained Manila’s premier sunset theater, where sea breeze, fading light, and quiet nostalgia filled the air. This ink reflects the weathered terracotta of the seawall and the soft elegance of “Old Rose” velvet seats in grand movie palaces, where afternoon matinees offered a cool escape from the city’s heat.
